🩸 Viktory squared

☀️ Good morning and welcome back to The Nosebleeds.

💰️ Viktor Hovland has won $21.6M over the last two weeks, including $18M for dominating the field at the Tour Championship and earning his second straight Viktory™️

🚚 I am moving this week, so it’s just going to be a quickie for y’all today.

🏌️‍♂️ Norway’s finest wins AGAIN

Viktorious yet again, Viktor Hovland won the 2023 Tour Championship and a boatload of prize money.

Hovland won consecutive tournaments to end the PGA Tour season, and looks like he’ll be Europe’s top dog heading into the Ryder Cup at the end of September.

This win put Viktor right in the thick of things for the Player of the Year award. Three W’s and a record $33.5M of on-course earnings—solid year for everyone’s favorite Norwegian.

🎾 U.S. Open Preview

The final grand slam of the year, the U.S. Open, began Monday afternoon. The young Spaniard will look to defend his title against the likes of Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, and many other talented players.

With the Alcaraz-Djokovic rivalry being the talk of the town, this is one of the most anticipated tennis majors in recent memory, and I highly suggest you tune in if you get the chance.

Even though Alcaraz is currently the #1 player in the world, Djokovic is the favorite to win his 24th grand slam.

🏁 Max Verstappen ties F1 record

Max Verstappen won his national Grand Prix in the Netherlands this past weekend. The win was Verstappen’s 9th consecutive victory, tying Sebastian Vettel for the all-time record.

Danny Ric did not have nearly as good of a weekend as Max, as he broke his wrist during a practice session. Got to feel for the guy, I’m sure he was ecstatic to get back into the swing of things following the summer break.

Here is the full top 10 from the Dutch GP:

  1. Verstappen 🇳🇱

  2. Alonso 🇪🇸

  3. Gasly 🇫🇷

  4. Perez 🇲🇽

  5. Sainz 🇪🇸

  6. Hamilton 🇬🇧

  7. Norris 🇬🇧

  8. Albon 🇹🇭

  9. Piastri 🇦🇺

  10. Ocon 🇫🇷

🤔 Tennis Trivia

The Big 3 of tennis, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer (pictured left to right), dominated tennis for years. If Novak Djokovic doesn’t win the 2023 U.S. Open, the Big 3 will only hold two of the four majors for this calendar year.

  • Question: what was the last year when the Big 3 didn’t hold at least ¾ grand slams in a year (excluding 2020 when Wimbledon wasn’t played due to COVID)?

Answer at the bottom.
