🩸 NFL Week 1: welcome back, football
☀️ Good morning and welcome back to The Nosebleeds.
🏈 The wait is over. Football is back.
📆 It has been seven months since the Chiefs defeated the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, so no need to wait any longer—let’s get into it.
⏪️ Week 1 Recap
⭐️ GAME OF THE WEEK: Dolphins 36, Chargers 34
Your co-favorites to win the MVP award after week 1 are Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa. The wizardry play-calling of Dolphins’ Head Coach Mike McDaniel has Tua and Tyreek Hill looking like an unstoppable duo—and they sure were on Sunday afternoon.
Here is just one of many dimes from Tua to Tyreek on Sunday:
Tua x Tyreek is a decent duo

Tua: 28/45, 466 yards, 3 TD
Tyreek: 11 receptions, 215 yards, 2 TD
Overreaction: I’m picking the Dolphins to win the AFC East, and maybe the whole damn conference now… we’ll see how they fare in week 2 against Belichick and the Patriots.
Herbert and the Chargers looked… a whole lot like how Herbert and the Chargers usually look. Very good, but not good enough to walk away with the win.
Lions 21, Chiefs 20
The Detroit Lions win the season opener in Kansas City. These Lions aren’t the same old Lions, but they really should make sure they thank Kadarius Toney for his performance, otherwise the defending Super Bowl champions are likely 1-0.

Buccaneers 20, Vikings 17
Justin Jefferson shows why he is considered the best receiver in football, but the Vikings show everyone that their 13-win season last year was likely a fluke, as they lose a stinker to the Bucs in Baker Mayfield’s debut.
Ravens 25, Texans 9
Baltimore wins in C.J. Stroud’s first NFL game, but lose J.K. Dobbins for the season with a torn Achilles.
Falcons 24, Panthers 9
Bijan Robinson shows flashes of crazy upside with his first NFL TD and the Falcons spoil 1st overall pick Bryce Young’s debut.
Browns 24, Bengals 3
Joe Burrow looks far from the highest-paid player in the NFL with only 82 passing yards as the Browns stomp the Bengals in Cleveland.
49ers 30, Steelers 7
49ers completely halt the Kenny Pickett/Steelers bandwagon with a dominant win in Steel City—Purdy and the Niners are forreal.
Commanders 20, Cardinals 16
Commanders squeak out a win against the lowly Cardinals in a game I don’t have much to say about because I didn’t really watch it. 🙃
Jaguars 31, Colts 21
Anthony Richardson made some good plays, but in the end the Jaguars were too much for a young Indianapolis team.
Saints 16, Titans 15
The mid-off you would expect in a battle between Derek Carr and Ryan Tannehill.
Raiders 17, Broncos 16
Jimmy G looks surprisingly solid in win over the Broncos in Sean Payton’s Broncos coaching debut—Raiders lead the AL West after week 1.
Rams 30, Seahawks 13
The Rams defense dominates in the second half, holding Seattle to one measly first down.
Eagles 25, Patriots 20
The Eagles look unrecognizable compared to last year’s Super Bowl team, as they are lucky to squeak out a win in Boston.
Packers 38, Bears 20
Simply put, Justin Fields is not that guy (you need to be able to throw the football to play quarterback in the NFL), and Green Bay continues to own Chicago.
Cowboys 40, Giants 0
Dallas DOMINATES the New York Football Giants and shows the world that they have their sights set on the Lombardi Trophy—recency bias sure, but their dominance combined with the Eagles looking mediocre… the Dallas Cowboys are going to win the NFC East.
No team has ever
◽️ Lost 40-0 or worse
◽️ Lost the sack battle 7-0 or worse
◽️ Lost the turnover battle 3-0 (or worse)
◽️ Had a blocked FG returned for a TD
◽️ Threw a pick-6in the same 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙣.
The Giants did it all in one 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚.

Jets 22, Bills 16 (OT)
Aaron Rodgers leaves the game injured only four plays into his career as a New York Jet and it looks like his season is in jeopardy. Brutal injury for the Jets—their performance in week 1 shows they have a Super Bowl winning roster. Really hope it isn’t an Achilles tear.
On the Bills side of things, Josh Allen forgot how to play football as he threw three awful interceptions. The Jets eventually won the game in OT on a walk-off punt return from undrafted rookie Xavier Gipson.

🏅 Fantasy Football Week 1 MVP
A little precursor, this award is not for the player with the fantasy points in a given week. The Fantasy Football Weekly MVP™️ is awarded to a player who comes up clutch for you in one of the final games of the week when you need it most. They go all “Witching Hour” on your opponent—where losses turn into wins.
The Fantasy Football Week 1 MVP is…
Dallas Cowboys D/ST: 36 points
7 sacks
2 interceptions
3 forced fumbles
1 fumble recovery
2 defensive TD
1 block
Need I say more? One of the best defensive performances ever.
🩸 Bloody Good Play of the Week: NFL Edition
That’s right, we’re going to have a Bloody Good Play of the Week for the NFL too.
And this week, the winner is last season’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, Garrett Wilson:

One of the best catches you’ll ever see. High stakes moment too—late in the 4th quarter, down a touchdown… an easy choice for play of the week.
🍿 Week 2 Watchlist
Thursday Night Football: Vikings @ Eagles
Minnesota looks to avoid an 0-2 start against a Philadelphia team that bulldozed them last season.
Sunday - Early Slate: Ravens @ Bengals
Massive AFC North matchup in Cincinnati—Burrow and co. need to respond or their hopes of winning a third straight division title are in trouble.
Sunday - Afternoon Slate: Jets @ Cowboys
This certainly would have been the best game of week 2 if not for Aaron Rodgers’ injury—probably the two most impressive defensive performances of week 1.
Sunday Night Football: Dolphins @ Patriots
McDaniel’s offence vs. Belichick’s defense… I expect a close and exciting game unlike this past Sunday night.
Monday Night Football: Saints @ Panthers, Browns @ Steelers
Got to love a Monday night doubleheader.
Bryce Young makes his home debut during primetime, and an hour later Cleveland will take on Pittsburgh in almost a must-win game for the Steelers.
