🏅 Flag football, baseball, and more added to 2028 Olympic Games

Flag football, baseball/softball, cricket, lacrosse, and squash will all be added to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

These sports will all be great additions to the games, but the talk of the town (Twitter) is about the addition of flag football to Earth’s pinnacle of sports.

According to Front Office Sports, the NFL is encouraging their stars to participate in the Olympics (take notes, NHL). That means we could see someone like Patrick Mahomes throwing the football to the likes of Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and many more NFL stars. Heck, I might even be able to quarterback that team to Olympic Glory.

But the best part of this announcement is undoubtedly… the memes.

While the excitement for Olympic flag football is unquestionable, it is still half a decade away, so let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves and take a look at the NFL power rankings as we head into the 7th week of the season.

⚾️ LCS Update

Heading into Friday, the defending World Series champion Houston Astros have tied their series with the Texas Rangers at two games a piece, and the Arizona Diamondbacks essentially keep their season alive with a walk-off victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 to cut the Phillies’ series lead in half at 2-1.

Even with Arizona’s massive victory, according to FanGraphs, the Phillies have a 75% chance of making it to the Fall Classic, and have a 41.3% chance to take home the title. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks only have an 11.3% chance to win their first World Series since ‘01.

At time of writing, FanGraphs did not have updated odds for the Astros-Rangers series following Houston’s Game 4 victory. However, those two teams are very evenly-matched—it is anyone’s guess to who pulls away and wins the AL pennant.

Honestly, aside from the Phillies-Braves series, the MLB postseason has been quite boring so far. Hopefully that means we are in for an extremely entertaining remainder of each League Championship Series and World Series.

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Rory McIlroy, and more professional athletes are part of a group that invested $200M into the Alpine F1 team. This investment comes only a few months after good Western Canada boy Ryan Reynolds also invested in Alpine.

Alpine now has numerous big names from North America on board as investors, and you wonder if promotion of the team from these celebrities will create a buzz around Alpine to the point where they will be considered “(North) America’s Team” in Formula 1.

Even in a F1 season that lacks on-track drama, it seems like F1 continues to make all the right moves to grow the sport on North American soil—good timing too, considering the US Grand Prix is taking place in Austin, Texas this weekend.
