šŸ©ø "DOWN GOES ANDERSON"

ā˜€ļø Good morning and welcome back to The Nosebleeds.

āš”ļø I was a little worried we wouldnā€™t have much good content for todayā€™s newsletter, but that was far from the case as we had some absolutely electric sports moments this weekend.

šŸŸ¢ Green light. Letā€™s roll.

šŸ¤“ Davis Schneider > Shohei Ohtani

If youā€™ve been with us for awhile now, you know we think Shohei Ohtani is the greatest baseball player of all time, and maybe the greatest athlete of all time. However, that is no more as a new man has taken the crown of best baseball player of all time. And that man is Davis Schneider.

All jokes aside, the 5ā€™9ā€, goggle-wearing, moustache-rocking Toronto Blue Jay has had a legendary start to his big league career. Schneider became the first player in MLB history to record 9 hits and 2 homers in their first three career games.

Schneiderā€™s all-time performance seemed to inject the Blue Jays with some much-needed life, as he led the Jays to a three game sweep of the Boston Red Sox, including a 13-1 shellacking in the series finale.

šŸ’Ŗ Bryson DeChambeau shoots 58

One of the most polarizing figures in golf, Bryson DeChambeau, put on one of the most dominant performances weā€™ve ever seen on a golf course this weekend at the most recent LIV Golf event.

DeChambeau fired a 61 on Saturday, then followed that up on Sunday with a 58 to win the tournament by six shots. A 59.5 average score over the course of two rounds is simply unbelievable (and slightly better than the 81 I shot this weekend šŸ™ƒ).

To try and put this feat into perspective, there has only been one round of 58 in PGA Tour history (youā€™ll find out who if you do todayā€™s trivia), and this is the first 58 in LIV Golf historyā€”so this is only the second time someone has shot 58 at the highest level(s) of professional golf in the history of the game.

Pretty special stuff, and Bryson sure finished it off in style.

šŸ§ Erik Karlsson traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins

Dubas wasted no time making a major addition for the Penguins.

Erik Karlsson will join future hall of famers Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang in Pittsburgh in pursuit of another Stanley Cup championship. Those four certainly arenā€™t as young as they used to be, but they are still outstanding. Karlsson is the reigning Norris Trophy winner as the leagues best defenseman, and Sidney Crosby is still Sidney Crosby.

Here are the full details of the extremely complicated three-team deal between the Penguins, the San Jose Sharks, and the Montreal Canadiens.

Not particularly sure what theyā€™re doing over there in San Jose, but a tidy piece of business for the Habs and a pretty suave move from Dubasā€”acquired Karlsson and shed $3M in cap space for a lottery protected 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick.

šŸ„Š Donā€™t F w/ Jose Ramirez

There were plenty of big name fights this weekend.

  • UFC: Sandhagen vs. Font

  • Boxing: Diaz vs. Paul

But those fights didnā€™t hold a candle to what we saw on the baseball diamond between Jose Ramirez and Tim Anderson this weekend.

Ramirez put Anderson to S L E E P šŸ˜“

Seems like Ramirez also gave Anderson CTE, as he has been doing his best Antonio Brown impression ever since.

Meanwhile, Ramirezā€™s agent posted this on his Instagram storyā€¦

The scuffle also blessed us with this legendary video.

What great comedy.

šŸ¤” Golf Trivia

Bryson DeChambeau had one of the greatest rounds in professional golf history on Sunday with a 58.

  • Question: who is the only player to ever shoot 58 on the PGA Tour?

Answer at the bottom.

šŸ“ŗļø Weekly Watchlist

Last Friday, I mentioned that we might be in store for a fantastic match between Sweden and USA in the Round of 16 at the Womenā€™s World Cup. A fantastic match it was, as the Swedes won in penalty kicks by a literal millimeter.

  • The Quarterfinals begin on Thursday with Spain taking on Netherlands.

Ladies and gentlemen, NFL football is upon us. The first week of preseason is finally underway this week, beginning with the Houston Texans facing off against the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings travelling to Seattle to take on the Seahawks with both games taking place Thursday night.

šŸ«” Catch yā€™all on Friday!

Trivia Answer: Jim Furyk in the 3rd round of the 2016 Travelers Championship.
