🌽 Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team sets world record for women’s sports attendance

92,003.

That’s how many people showed up to watch the Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s volleyball team take on Omaha at the school’s football stadium—a world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event.

Pretty electric atmosphere if you ask me.

The previous world record for women’s sports attendance was 91,648 for a Barcelona champion’s league match.

🎾 Top seeds fall in early rounds of U.S. Open

#4 seed: heading home 🏠️

#5 seed: see ya 👋

Holger Rune (4) and Casper Ruud (5), two of tennis’ young up-and-coming stars, have both been eliminated from the U.S. Open in the early rounds of the tournament.

Both players have been struggling as of late, but Ruud was a U.S. Open finalist just one year ago, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

With every upset, we inch closer to an Alcaraz vs. Djokovic championship match…

😈 T.J. Hockenson signs record contract with Minnesota Vikings

T.J. Hockenson signed a four-year, $68.5M contract with the Vikings, making him the highest paid tight-end in football at a $17.125M average annual value.

This is a reset for the tight-end market overall, and we should see a few TEs surpass this dollar value on their contracts in the near future.

It was big for the Vikings to get this deal done before the season began. The Vikings now have their second best weapon locked-up for the long-term.

Next up for Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and the front office in Minnesota—extending Justin Jefferson to the most lucrative receiver contract ever. And it seems like talks between the two parties have been progressing recently. Stay tuned.

🤔 Sports Trivia

The Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s volleyball team just set a world record for attendance.

  • Question: what is the record for largest attendance in an enclosed stadium for a sporting event ever?

Answer at the bottom.

Adrian Mannarino for this outstanding point at the U.S. Open!

But to truly appreciate this play from the Frenchman, you need to see this photo:

🐰🐰🐰

Not going to lie, Lionel Messi almost won this award for the third damn time in it’s short history for this sublime give-and-go, but decided it was time to change things up.
